Free webcast! November 20, 2019 “Salt and Stormwater – The Salinization of Our Watersheds” – a public showing

This Center for Watershed Protection webcast titled, “Salt and Stormwater – The Salinization of Our Watersheds” will be fed live on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, 1pm to 2:30pm, at the Capital District Regional Planning Commission (CDRPC) office, One Park Place, Suite 102, Albany, NY.

If you’d like to attend, please call or e-mail to reserve a seat: swcoalition@albanycounty.com or 447-5645.

CWP webcast description:

The increase in sodium and chloride concentrations in fresh water in the United States is a major cause for concern. Salinization is degrading habitat for aquatic organisms and impacting large supplies of drinking water throughout the country. Research has found chloride concentrations of up to 25% of the concentration of seawater in streams of Maryland, New York, and New Hampshire during winters, and chloride concentrations remaining up to 100 times greater than un-impacted forest streams during summers. This webcast will look at some of the latest research on sodium and chlorides and explore ways to reduce its impact on our local aquatic ecosystems.
