CWP webcast description:
“The increase in sodium and chloride concentrations in fresh water in the United States is a major cause for concern. Salinization is degrading habitat for aquatic organisms and impacting large supplies of drinking water throughout the country. Research has found chloride concentrations of up to 25% of the concentration of seawater in streams of Maryland, New York, and New Hampshire during winters, and chloride concentrations remaining up to 100 times greater than un-impacted forest streams during summers. This webcast will look at some of the latest research on sodium and chlorides and explore ways to reduce its impact on our local aquatic ecosystems.”
The Stormwater Coalition of Albany County purchases Center for Watershed Protection webcasts and organizes group viewings for the benefit of the stormwater community and interested public.
