The Stormwater Coalition is sponsoring three 2018 WAVE volunteer stream monitoring events in Albany County, NY. Here are the dates: the Lisha Kill on Thursday, August 9, 3 pm to 5 pm; the Salt Kill on Tuesday, August 14, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm; and Vly Creek on August 16, 5:00 to 7:30 pm.

DRAFT Joint Annual Report – Reporting Period March, 2017 to March, 2018 

By June 1, regulated MS4/municipalities must file with NYSDEC an Annual Report which describes progress over the past year implementing requirements named in the MS4 Stormwater Permit. As required by the Permit, prior to finalizing the report, a DRAFT Annual Report is made available for public comment.

Public comments regarding the Stormwater Coalition of Albany County DRAFT Joint Annual Report can be submitted using the Coalition website, by email, phone call, and by contacting local municipal stormwater staff (see Member pages).  The Public Comment period ends May 18, 2018 4pm.  The FINAL Joint Annual Report will be posted after June 1.

A NYSDEC 4 Hour Erosion and Sediment Control Construction Activity Training presented by David Mosher, CPESC is scheduled for November 14, 2017, 8:00am to 12:00pm, at the Building Industry Center, 6 Airline Drive, Albany, NY 12205. See flyer and registration form for program details.

This event is organized by the Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District (ACSWCD), with the Stormwater Coalition of Albany County a co-sponsor along with the Associated General Contractors of NYS, Eastern Contractors Association, Inc., and the Northeastern Subcontractors Association.

This training pertains to requirements detailed in the NYSDEC SPDES General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Construction Activity.

The Stormwater Coalition of Albany County has one vacancy for the position of Stormwater Program Technician Assistant. See flyer and application materials. This is a grant funded 40 hr/wk position with benefits, salary competitive, contingent on experience. The work will focus on mapping stormwater infrastructure owned and operated by regulated municipalities and completing a variety of other mapping tasks. Training provided as needed. Some academic coursework required, however work experience, an ability to work with others, and a commitment to protecting and improving water quality is highly valued.  APPLICATIONS DUE: September 15, 2017.
