The Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering the NYSDEC approved 4 hour Erosion, Sediment Control and Stormwater Training over multiple dates (August 18 and August 28, 2020). Regulated MS4/municipalities must file with NYSDEC an Annual Report which describes progress over the past year implementing requirements named in the MS4 Stormwater Permit. Prior to finalizing the report, a DRAFT Annual Report is made available for public comment.

Comments can be submitted using the Coalition website, by email, phone call, or by contacting local municipal stormwater staff (see Member pages). If you would like to share comments about the annual report at a public meeting, contact 518-447-5645.

This joint report includes individual reports from the Town of Colonie and Village of Menands.

“The increase in sodium and chloride concentrations in fresh water in the United States is a major cause for concern. Salinization is degrading habitat for aquatic organisms and impacting large supplies of drinking water throughout the country. Research has found chloride concentrations of up to 25% of the concentration of seawater in streams of Maryland, New York, and New Hampshire during winters, and chloride concentrations remaining up to 100 times greater than un-impacted forest streams during summers. This webcast will look at some of the latest research on sodium and chlorides and explore ways to reduce its impact on our local aquatic ecosystems.”
